On a surprise visit to Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Meera Manjhi, a beneficiary of the Ujjwala Yojana, where he indulged in a casual tea session at her residence.
During his unexpected stopover, PM Modi took the opportunity to interact with the children gathered at Manjhi's home, engaging in warm conversations and exchanging selfies with them. Notably, he graciously offered his autograph on a piece of paper, embellished with a drawing portraying the Ram Temple, alongside which he inscribed the patriotic phrase 'Vande Mataram'. The artwork was meticulously crafted by Anuj, a local sixth-grade student. Union Minister Smriti Irani later shared a video on social media, showcasing PM Modi's interaction with the enthusiastic children.
Post his visit, Meera Manjhi expressed her gratitude, narrating her interaction with the Prime Minister to news agency ANI. She articulated, "He first came in, sat with my children, and conversed. I greeted him with folded hands. He inquired about the benefits we've received from this scheme. I conveyed how I now have a house, gas, and free water supply. Using a gas stove instead of a furnace fills me with immense joy."
Manjhi elaborated on PM Modi's inquisitiveness about her lunch preparations, sharing, "I mentioned that I cooked lentils, rice, vegetables, and tea. He mentioned the importance of having tea during winter. Consequently, I prepared a cup of tea for him." She chuckled, recalling PM Modi's observation about the tea being slightly sweet, to which she responded, "That's my style of making tea."
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi commenced his visit to Ayodhya with a vibrant roadshow, inaugurating the revamped Ayodhya railway station. Subsequently, he unveiled the city's Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and laid the foundation stones for an array of developmental initiatives aimed at uplifting Uttar Pradesh.
