PM Modi said in an exclusive interview that "I view all of my decisions through the lens of Nation First."

Ever since Narendra Modi took residence at the official prime ministerial dwelling located at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, notable transformations have graced the premises. The grand entrance adorned with columns leads into an extensive corridor intricately weaving through a network of meeting rooms. Within the prime minister's study, the walls boast two exquisite paintings depicting the grace of peacocks and the vibrancy of various birds. The room features a spacious desk, curiously bereft of any scattered papers, accompanied by a prominent computer console resting on a side table. It was in this space, on December 26, that the Prime Minister, attired in a military green shirt jacket embellished with brass buttons, engaged in a comprehensive interview with India Today's Chairperson and Editor-in-Chief Aroon Purie, Vice Chairperson Kalli Purie, and Group Editorial Director (Publishing) Raj Chengappa. For an hour-long conversation, the PM passionately delved into a myriad of pivotal domestic and international matters while also engaging deeply with inquiries submitted earlier, encapsulating both verbal dialogues and written responses.

Reflecting on being bestowed the title of India Today's Newsmaker of the Year 2023, the Prime Minister graciously acknowledged the honour, attributing the distinction to various figures and forces that have shaped the year. Expressing gratitude, he highlighted the role of the country's farmers, the success of the G20 summit, the achievements of the Vishwakarma community, the triumphs of Indian athletes across various competitions, the burgeoning accomplishments of the youth in domains like startups and scientific endeavours, and the empowerment heralded by the prowess of Nari Shakti in diverse sectors. He also acknowledged the multitude of successes and challenges witnessed during his tenure while serving the nation.

Assessing the year's challenges, the Prime Minister underscored India's rapid rise in 2023, viewing it as a crucial milestone in the country's journey towards Viksit Bharat. He emphasized the unleashed potential of the nation, the sought-after global presence, and India's shift from a follower to a leader on the international stage. The consensus, as per the PM, unequivocally affirms that this is India's moment, marking a significant turning point.

Contemplating the satisfaction derived from the year's journey, the Prime Minister offered a nuanced perspective, indicating that evaluating progress over a single year might not encapsulate the complete narrative. He alluded to the progressive unfolding of his vision and plans, hinting at a larger canvas on which he operates. Analogous to an artist starting with a single point but envisaging a broader final picture, the PM hinted at a trajectory that extends beyond immediate observation, emphasizing the continuous evolution of his endeavours toward a grander, unseen destination.
