The Delhi Health Minister initiates an investigation into harassment at Burari Hospital and mandates immediate action against sexual offenders

 


In a recent development, Delhi's Health Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has expressed dissatisfaction with the perceived leniency exhibited by the Delhi Police in dealing with sexual offenders, despite the lodging of a First Information Report (FIR) on December 19, 2023. To address this concern, the Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to ensure the enforcement of the strictest possible police action against the accused.

Furthermore, in response to a distressing incident involving sexual harassment of outsourced workers at Burari Hospital, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has taken decisive action. He has ordered the immediate formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. The committee, which will be headed by the Secretary of Health, aims to delve into the circumstances surrounding the incident and provide a comprehensive report.

Expressing zero tolerance for such incidents in any situation, Minister Bharadwaj has emphasized the urgency of a prompt investigation. He has requested preliminary reports from the inquiry committee within 24 hours and a final detailed report within a week. Additionally, the Health Minister has sought an action-taken report from the Chief Secretary within a timeframe of 6 hours, highlighting the need for swift and decisive measures to address the situation and ensure justice.
