Uddhav Thackeray: The dedication of the Ram Mandir shouldn't be a political occasion

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray expressed his displeasure with the BJP's handling of the upcoming consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Thackeray noted that despite not receiving an invitation for the event scheduled in January, he believed that this inaugural ceremony shouldn't be turned into a mere political spectacle. He emphasized the significance of the occasion for all Hindus and followers of Lord Ram, recalling the historic struggle his father, Bal Thackeray, waged for this cause.

"I hope this doesn't transform into a political affair. Our joy for Ayodhya is immense. It's not just about us; all Hindus and Ram devotees share this happiness. If they extend an invitation, we'll consider it. L.K. Advani deserves the utmost credit. I've heard Murli Manohar Joshi hasn't been invited. Yet, I don't necessarily need an invitation. I can visit at any time. Even today," Thackeray conveyed.

Speaking from his residence Matoshree in Mumbai, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra emphasized, "I'm yet to receive an invitation for Ayodhya. Shiv Sena has tirelessly fought for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Balasaheb faced voting rights being taken away, and many were incarcerated. So, the realization of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya brings immense joy to us."

He continued, expressing some disappointment over the BJP's handling, sharing, "We anticipated a special law from the BJP for the Ram Mandir's construction, but that didn't materialize. Instead, the Supreme Court delivered the verdict. However, Shiv Sena, as a party, has perpetually supported and championed the cause of the Ram Mandir. Even during my tenure as Chief Minister, I sought blessings from Ram Lalla."

The much-anticipated inauguration of the Ram Mandir on January 22 will see a limited number of attendees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various other leaders.
