A 75-year history of Chief Minister Yogi, Gorakhnath, and Ram Lalla

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony in Ayodhya on Monday, serving as the chief 'yajman.' Following the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol, he expressed, "Ram Mandir wahi banayenge (Will construct the Ram temple on that very spot)," emphasizing the fulfillment of this pledge.

Recently, Yogi Adityanath attributed his decision to become a monk to the Ram temple movement, indicating his profound connection to the Mandir Movement spanning generations.

The Gorakhnath Dham in Gorakhpur, where Yogi Adityanath holds the position of Mahant, has actively contributed to the Ram Temple Movement for over 75 years. Yogi Adityanath shares a connection to the ancient Ram Lalla idol that mysteriously "appeared" in the disputed Babri Masjid in 1949.

Reflecting on the monumental occasion, Yogi Adityanath conveyed, "The struggle of generations and the resolve of centuries has been completed with the consecration of the new idol of Lord Shri Ramlala taking place today at Shri Ram's birthplace in Shri Ayodhya Dham."

He paid homage to his mentors, Yugapurush Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath Ji Maharaj and National Saint Brahmalin Mahant Avedyanath Ji Maharaj, acknowledging their significant contributions to the Mandir Movement.

Mahant Digvijaynath, the predecessor of Yogi Adityanath at the Gorakhnath Mutt, played a pivotal role in the pre-Independence era by actively advocating for the construction of the Ram temple. He united Hindus across castes and classes, establishing the Akhil Bharatiya Ram Rajya Parishad Party in 1948.

Mahant Digvijaynath initiated the recitation of Akhand Ramayana before the appearance of the Ram Lalla idol in 1949. He witnessed the mysterious appearance of the idol and encouraged locals to pray to it, defying administrative orders for its removal.

Mahant Avaidyanath, succeeding Mahant Digvijaynath, further amplified the Ram Temple Movement, becoming the face of the campaign. Elected President of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Yagna Committee in 1984, Mahant Avaidyanath led various initiatives, including a religious procession to 'liberate' the Ram temple.

Under his guidance, the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Ram temple took place on November 9, 1989. Despite challenges, he continued the movement, linking it to national honor and the Hindu faith. Yogi Adityanath, designated as his successor in 1996, inherited the Mandir Movement.

This legacy passed down through Mahant Digvijaynath and Mahant Avaidyanath underscores Yogi Adityanath's deep-rooted connection to the Ram Lalla idol of 1949 and his role in the Ram Temple Movement.
