A truck strikes a couple's two-wheeler from behind, crushing them to death in Tamil Nadu

Tragically, a young couple met their untimely demise in a devastating road mishap when a truck collided with their two-wheeler from behind in Tamil Nadu's Salem, as reported by authorities on Sunday.

The victims, identified as 30-year-old Alagarasan, employed as a construction worker, and his 25-year-old wife, Ilamathi, were en route to Pannavadi accompanied by their two young children, aged five and two when the fateful incident occurred. Remarkably, despite the severity of the crash, the toddlers sustained minor injuries and were expeditiously transported to a nearby medical facility for necessary medical attention.

As recounted by eyewitnesses, while traversing Raman Nagar, the flow of traffic came to a halt. Alagarasan, positioned behind a bus, brought their two-wheeler to a halt. Tragically, a truck transporting paddy from Karnataka failed to brake in time, resulting in a devastating collision with the couple's vehicle, claiming the lives of Alagarasan and Ilamathi.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, the Karumulai Kudal Police undertook the somber task of retrieving the bodies of the deceased, subsequently arranging for their transfer to Mettur for post-mortem examinations.

Currently, law enforcement authorities are diligently probing the circumstances surrounding the incident, utilizing CCTV footage to piece together the events leading up to the fatal collision. Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the truck driver, believed to have fled the scene, remain unknown, adding a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
