Blame game, bitter divorce: Suchana Seth, accused of murder, faces her estranged husband

Suchana Seth, accused of the tragic killing of her 4-year-old son in a service apartment in Goa, underwent a confrontation with her estranged husband facilitated by authorities on Saturday. The couple, currently entangled in a divorce battle coupled with allegations of domestic violence, engaged in a 15-minute face-off at a Goa police station marked by a blame game and verbal altercation.

The estranged husband, Venkat, who was overseas when the alleged murder occurred, expressed a belief that the child might have expressed a desire to meet his father, potentially triggering Suchana to commit the act in a fit of rage.

As part of the nearly finalized divorce proceedings, the father had been restricted from meeting the child, as outlined in a restraining order issued on August 18, 2022. The order prohibited the husband from entering Suchana Seth's residence or communicating with her son through any medium. Despite this, he was reportedly granted weekly visitation rights, causing discontent for Suchana Seth.

Despite a court order, Suchana Seth did not permit Venkat to meet the child, and their last meeting occurred on December 10. During the confrontation, both parties blamed each other for the unfolding tragic events. Suchana Seth, reiterating statements made to the police, claimed she was asleep when the child was alive and discovered him deceased upon waking.

Venkat, recounting his attempts to meet the child on January 7, stated that Suchana Seth and the child did not appear at the agreed location. He attempted to contact her afterward but received no response.

This confrontation marked the first time Suchana Seth and her husband Venkat Raghavan faced each other since the child's murder. The couple, married in 2010, is currently navigating a complex legal situation with a history of domestic violence allegations. Suchana Seth was arrested on Tuesday while en route to Bengaluru from Goa and is presently in six-day police custody. Investigations into this distressing case are ongoing.
