Gujarat is actively preparing for an extensive investment summit, set to host a multitude of executives during a three-day event. This significant gathering anticipates the participation of over 50 U.S. firms, contributing to what stands out as one of Prime Minister Modi's major initiatives in the lead-up to the 2024 polls.

The forthcoming 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, slated to commence on January 9, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to his home state. Spanning from January 8 to January 10, the Prime Minister's visit aims to extend a warm welcome to both foreign and domestic investors, signifying a strategic move in the run-up to the highly anticipated 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Scheduled to arrive at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar around 9:30 am on January 9, PM Modi is poised to inaugurate the mega business event later in the day. The ceremony is expected to draw an audience of approximately one lakh individuals, comprising diplomats from 133 nations, chief executives, business leaders, and ministers.

Providing an overview of the ambitious Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, the event is characterized by its status as the largest gathering in its biennial series. It will encompass a diverse range of activities, including seminars and conferences addressing globally relevant subjects such as Industry 4.0, Technology and Innovation, Sustainable Manufacturing, Green Hydrogen, Electric Mobility, Renewable Energy, and the Transition towards Sustainability.

Key focus sectors during the summit encompass E-mobility, startups, MSMEs, Blue Economy, Green Energy, and Smart Infrastructure. Participation from renowned foreign conglomerates like Microsoft, Nasdaq, Google, and Suzuki, as reported by news agency Reuters, underscores the international significance of the event. Noteworthy Indian executives, including Gautam Adani, Mukesh Ambani, and Natarajan Chandrasekaran, are expected to be in attendance.

The summit boasts the involvement of 34 partner countries and 16 partner organizations, aligning with this year's theme, 'Gateway to the Future.' Marking the 20th anniversary of Vibrant Gujarat's success, the tenth edition is poised to celebrate its evolution as a global forum for business collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Modi.

In the context of the impending 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi aims to instill confidence in investors regarding his business-friendly policies, thereby enhancing India's standing as an attractive investment destination, particularly resonating with the preferences of the new-age electorate.

As part of the summit's agenda, PM Modi is scheduled to conduct closed-door meetings with numerous executives, in addition to chairing bilateral sessions with world leaders. An interactive session with CEOs of prominent global corporations is also on the agenda.

Utilizing the Vibrant Gujarat platform, the Ministry of Development of the North-Eastern Region seeks to showcase investment opportunities in the North-Eastern regions. A statement from the Prime Minister's Office underscores the summit's evolution as a globally respected forum for inclusive growth and sustainable development since its inception in 2003.

To ensure the safety and security of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, comprehensive measures have been implemented in Gandhinagar. These include 3-D mapping of venues using drones, the establishment of decentralised command and control centres, and the installation of CCTV cameras at strategic locations, as reported by news agency PTI.

With security arrangements extending to programs at Mahatma Mandir, Sector-17 Exhibition Center, and GIFT City, control rooms and repeater channels have been established to facilitate coordination between Ahmedabad City and Gandhinagar district police.

In the period from 2019 to 2023, Gujarat has secured an impressive approximately $34 billion in foreign investments, ranking as the third-highest recipient among Indian states. Maharashtra and Karnataka claimed the top two positions during the same period.

As the summit approaches, the demand for daily hotel rooms has surged, leading to elevated executive class tariffs, reaching Rs 34,919 a night from the typical Rs 12,471. The sprawling convention center managed by Leela Palace will host the summit, with roads leading to the venue undergoing cleaning and repairs, adorned with billboards featuring Prime Minister Modi's images, aimed at promoting Gujarat as a premier investment destination.
