Chief of Andhra Congress steps down, with YS Sharmila expected to succeed him: References

Sources have informed India Today TV that YS Sharmila, who recently aligned herself with the Congress, is likely to assume the role of the new Andhra Pradesh Congress president. This development comes in the wake of the resignation of Gidugu Rudra Raju, the current Andhra Pradesh Congress chief, as reported by sources.

It is anticipated that an official announcement regarding YS Sharmila's potential appointment as the new state president will be made by the Congress soon, according to these sources.

Earlier in the month, YS Sharmila, the sibling of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, declared the integration of her YSR Telangana Congress party into the Congress. Expressing admiration for the Congress, Sharmila commended it as the largest secular party in the country, emphasizing its steadfast commitment to serving all communities and bringing together diverse sections of the population.

Before her affiliation with the Congress, YS Sharmila had consistently expressed her allegiance to the party, refraining from contesting the Telangana elections to prevent potential vote division that could have favored former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. This strategic move aimed to consolidate support and maintain unity within the political landscape.
