Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to embark on a visit to London on January 8, where he is set to engage in a bilateral meeting with his UK counterpart Grant Shapps. The discussions during this visit will encompass an array of subjects, primarily focusing on matters of defence, security, and industrial cooperation. Minister Singh, sharing the details on the micro-blogging platform X, expressed his anticipation for a comprehensive dialogue during his stay in London from January 8 to 10.
Accompanying the Defence Minister on this two-day visit will be a delegation consisting of senior officials from service headquarters, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and the Department of Defence Production. Additionally, Minister Singh is expected to hold discussions with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary David Cameron. Furthermore, the visit will include interactions with CEOs and industry leaders of the UK Defence Industry, as well as meetings with the Indian community in the region.
The focal points of the talks between Minister Singh and Defence Secretary Shapps will revolve around critical technology sharing and the expansion of bilateral industrial defence cooperation. Notably, discussions may also encompass collaboration in the joint development of fighter aircraft and various military platforms. Additionally, the Indo-Pacific, West Asia, and Ukraine are anticipated to be key areas of deliberation during the visit.
