Delhi teen kills grandmother with friend's assistance and takes money; both are caught

A 15-year-old boy, in collaboration with his friend, has been taken into custody for reportedly causing the death of his 77-year-old grandmother in the Shahdara area. The police revealed on Saturday that the primary accused confessed during questioning, breaking down, and admitting to stealing Rs 14,000 from the deceased for personal enjoyment.

The unfortunate incident unfolded when the elderly woman was discovered dead in her GTB Enclave residence on Thursday evening. Although the initial assumption was a natural death due to the absence of apparent external injuries, the discovery of an injury mark on the right side of her forehead raised suspicions.

Upon closer examination, the deceased's husband realized that cash was missing from their locker. The police were promptly informed, leading to an investigation that unveiled the involvement of the elderly couple's 15-year-old grandson and his friend.

The grandson, a Class 9 student, along with his accomplice, visited the house on Thursday when the victim was alone. Subsequent questioning of the main accused on Friday resulted in a breakdown and a confession to the crime. The stolen cash was recovered from him, and he was taken into custody.

The investigation revealed that the duo had planned the murder to appear as a natural death. Allegedly, the grandson smothered his grandmother's face with a blanket and struck her head with a blunt object. The primary motive behind the crime was disclosed as the need for cash for personal enjoyment.

The boy's friend, also 15 years old, was apprehended from the same locality. The tragic incident underscores the complexities involved in cases of familial crime and highlights the need for thorough investigations to bring justice to the affected parties.
