Adhir Ranjan of the Congress declares, "I don't care," as Trinamool seeks 42 seats in Bengal

West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, responding to reports of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) likely fielding candidates in all 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state, asserted his electoral prowess by stating that he has previously defeated both the BJP and TMC. Speaking to the media in Siliguri, he emphasized that he "doesn't care" about the ongoing developments, and any further decisions will be made in New Delhi.

Adhir Ranjan's remarks were prompted by TMC General Secretary Kunal Ghosh's statement that the party is prepared to contest all 42 seats. Ghosh criticized the state unit of Congress for allegedly attacking the TMC and indirectly benefiting the BJP.

In response, Adhir Ranjan expressed confidence in his ability to contest and win elections, highlighting the achievements that have brought him to his current position. The West Bengal Congress chief shrugged off concerns about being perceived as a non-factor, asserting that their leaders have already conveyed their stance.

This exchange between Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Kunal Ghosh is part of the ongoing dynamics within the INDIA bloc alliance, where the TMC and Congress are expected to engage in seat-sharing negotiations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal. While the TMC has indicated its readiness to contest all 42 seats, Congress leaders, including Adhir Ranjan, remain resolute in their approach.

The decision to field candidates on all 42 seats in West Bengal was reportedly discussed during a meeting between the Trinamool's top leadership and the Murshidabad district leadership. The strategic importance of Murshidabad, with three Lok Sabha seats, has added significance to the unfolding developments.

Amidst these political maneuvers, the overarching INDIA bloc alliance faces the challenge of balancing internal dynamics and presenting a united front against the BJP in the upcoming elections. The final decision on seat-sharing and other related matters is expected to be determined by TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
