Due to the cold, Punjabi schools close for pupils up to Class 10 until January 14


In Punjab, it has been declared that all government and private schools catering to students up to Class 10 will be closed from January 8 to January 14 due to the prevailing cold weather conditions in the state.

This decision was officially announced by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a statement issued on Sunday. The statement specified, "Given the inclement weather conditions in the region, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has ordered that all the government, government-aided, and private schools in the state up to Class 10 will remain closed from January 8-14."

On Sunday, Punjab continued to experience cold weather, with morning fog leading to reduced visibility in various areas. The weather department reported that Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius. Other cities such as Ludhiana, Patiala, Pathankot, Bathinda, Faridkot, and Gurdaspur also witnessed chilly nights, with minimum temperatures ranging from 6 to 7 degrees Celsius.
