Amidst President Macron's presence as the Chief Guest for Republic Day, the announcement of four Padma awardees from France, the most for any country, serves as yet another testament to the enduring bond shared by India and France, as revealed by official sources to India Today.
The prestigious Padma Awards, announced by the Centre, honor individuals for their outstanding contributions across diverse fields. Among the esteemed recipients from France are Charlotte Chopin, a centenarian yoga exponent, and Kiran Vyas, a renowned practitioner of yoga and Ayurveda, aged 79.
Furthermore, Pierre Sylvain Filliozat, an 87-year-old Sanskrit scholar dedicated to advancing Indian cultural studies, and Fred Negrit, an Indologist fostering enhanced understanding and appreciation of Indian culture, have also been honored with Padma awards.
The selection process for the Padma Awards involves recommendations put forth by a committee chaired by the Prime Minister, aimed at recognizing exceptional achievements and service to the nation.
In a social media post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to all Padma awardees, lauding their significant contributions across various sectors.
