In Antarctica, the Indian Navy observes Republic Day

On Republic Day, personnel from the Indian Navy marked the occasion with celebrations held at the Bharati Research Station in Antarctica.

As part of the expedition, an Indian Naval Hydrographic Department (INHD) team, accompanied by other members of the expedition, raised both the Tricolour and the Navy insignia at the research station.

The Indian Navy shared images of the festivities on X, highlighting the event as a demonstration of the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy in remote maritime regions. They stated, "Celebrating #RepublicDay2024 in Antarctica, showcasing operational prowess in distant waters #IndianNavy's Hydrographic survey team from the Indian Naval Hydrographic Department, comprising Lt Cdr Rishabh Rawat & Manjeet PO(HY) at Bharati Research Station hoisted the tricolor."

It is noteworthy that a hydrographic survey team from the INHD, led by Lt Cdr Rishabh Rawat and including Manjeet PO(HY), arrived at the Indian Antarctica station Bharati on January 17. Their mission involves conducting a Hydrographic survey off Larsemann Hills as part of the 43 Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (ISEA).
