Guarantee programs will be discontinued if...: Karnataka MLA prior to the Lok Sabha elections

Magadi MLA HC Balakrishna, while participating in the Janaspandana Program near Magadi in Ramanagar district, conveyed that the assurance schemes implemented by the Karnataka government would be discontinued unless voters extended their support to the Congress party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Expressing this stance, the Congress Magadi MLA outlined that the continuity of the government's guarantee schemes hinged on the electorate's choice to vote in favor of the Congress during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. During the Janaspandana Program, he emphasized, "If people cast their votes for the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, we commit to sustaining our guarantee schemes; however, in the event of a different outcome, we may consider discontinuing these assurances, interpreting it as a rejection by the people."

In an attempt to gauge public sentiment, the MLA posed a question to the people, presenting them with a choice between supporting "Akshate" (symbolizing the rice grains distributed during the consecration of the Ram Temple) or endorsing the guarantee schemes.

Balakrishna shared that he had engaged in discussions with the Chief Minister and the deputy chief minister on this matter. While acknowledging the significance of temple construction, he conveyed the perspective that soliciting votes in the name of temples might not align with their vision.

He asserted, "Though building temples is commendable, our standpoint is that votes should not be sought solely in the name of temples." Furthermore, he indicated that if the people were to prioritize temples over guarantee schemes, the conclusion would be drawn, potentially leading to the discontinuation of the guarantee schemes. The resources earmarked for these schemes could then be redirected towards temple construction, and electoral campaigns might pivot towards seeking support in the name of temples.
