In Nagpur, a man attempting suicide accidently murders his friend's brother

A 25-year-old man tragically lost his life in Nagpur after he was inadvertently stabbed while attempting to intervene and prevent his brother's friend from committing suicide, as per an official statement released on Sunday.

The distressing incident unfolded on Thursday, leading to the subsequent arrest of the individual who had been contemplating self-harm, according to the official report.

The individual in custody, identified as Rohit Gyaneshwar Kharwe (27), had been residing in the household of his friend Manish Pramod Karwade, situated in the Hudkeshwar locality of the city. Manish's family, including his mother and brother Shubham, also shared the residence with Rohit.

Rohit's emotional turmoil stemmed from the prolonged absence of his younger sister, who had been missing for the past seven years, the report elaborated.

On the fateful Thursday night, Rohit, overcome with emotion, began blaming himself for his inability to locate his sister. In a moment of distress, he seized a kitchen knife and made an attempt on his own life, as detailed in the official FIR.

During the commotion, Rohit inadvertently pushed Manish, causing him to collide with a wall and sustain injuries, the report continued.

In a valiant effort to defuse the situation, Shubham intervened and attempted to disarm Rohit, resulting in an accidental stabbing. Despite being promptly rushed to the hospital, Shubham succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Friday.

Following Manish's statement to the authorities, the Hudkeshwar police apprehended Rohit on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder on Saturday, with ongoing investigations underway, the report concluded.
