Madhya Pradesh: On January 22, meat markets and slaughterhouses in cities will be closed

In preparation for the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, officials from the Urban Development Authority have instructed civic bodies in urban areas of Madhya Pradesh to ensure the closure of slaughterhouses, as well as shops selling meat and fish on that day. This directive, aimed at respecting the significance of the occasion, comes as part of a broader initiative by the urban development department to maintain a solemn atmosphere.

As per the government release, a specific directive has been issued to ensure the closure of meat shops and slaughterhouses on January 22. In addition to this measure, there will be a special cleanliness drive implemented across all urban areas, including the temple premises, as part of the preparations for the Ram Mandir 'pran pratishtha' ceremony.

Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has urged local bodies to actively involve the public and public representatives in the cleanliness drive, emphasizing the importance of maximum participation.

It is noteworthy that, in alignment with the significance of the occasion, the BJP-led government in the state has already declared a half-day for government offices and announced a holiday for schools and colleges on January 22. This collective effort aims to uphold the sanctity of the event and ensure the active involvement of the community in maintaining a clean and respectful environment.
