After completing her education at the US Air Force Academy, Madison Marsh, a 22-year-old native of Arkansas, has embarked on a distinct mission – contending for the title of Miss America.
Having earned the title of Miss Colorado in May 2023 shortly before graduating from the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) and being commissioned as an Air Force Officer, Marsh entered the branch as a 2nd lieutenant while simultaneously pursuing her Master’s in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Currently, among the 50 contestants vying for the Miss America title, scheduled to be held in Florida on January 13 and 14, Marsh is set to become the first active-duty Air Force officer to participate in the prestigious pageant.
Reflecting on this unique intersection of her military service and beauty pageant participation, Marsh expressed, "It’s an awesome experience to bring both sides of the favorite parts of my life together and hopefully make a difference for others to be able to realize that you don’t have to limit yourself," as quoted by the New York Post.
"In the military, it’s an open space to really lead in the way that you want to lead – in and out of uniform. I felt like pageants, and specifically winning Miss Colorado, was a way to truly exemplify that and to set the tone to help make other people feel more comfortable finding what means most to them," she added.
Marsh acknowledged that her physical training for the military proved beneficial in her preparations for the beauty pageant.
"It's an awesome experience to bring both sides of the favorite parts of my life together and hopefully make a difference for others to realize that you don't have to limit yourself," she expressed.
Marsh's ambition of becoming a pilot has been a lifelong dream. Introduced to the world of astronauts and fighter pilots at a space camp at the age of 13, she began flying lessons at 15 and obtained her pilot's license two years later.
Beyond her involvement in beauty pageants, Madison Marsh envisions her future as a 'Top Gun' fighter pilot.
