Addressing a gathering in Karimganj, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal made a statement asserting the necessity of hijab for Muslim women serving in professional capacities such as bureaucrats and doctors.
During the rally, Ajmal expressed his encouragement for girls to pursue education, excel in the matriculation examination, opt for scientific studies, and aspire to become doctors or join esteemed services like the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), or Assam Police Service (APS). He then went on to assert that women occupying professional roles must adhere to wearing the hijab to be readily identified as Muslims.
Highlighting the importance of such practices, Ajmal questioned the audience, stating, "If you people do not follow these things, how will we understand who our Muslim doctors, IPS officers, or APS officers are? How will we differentiate?"
Furthermore, he contended that leaving one's hair uncovered and wearing makeup are considered the work of the devil.
This isn't the first instance where the AIUDF chief has made controversial remarks. In a previous statement last year, Ajmal made a sweeping comment about Muslims being number one in various crimes such as robbery, dacoity, rape, and loot. Additionally, in 2022, he suggested that Hindus should adopt the "Muslim formula" by getting their children married at a young age, making a comparison between the marriage practices of Muslims and Hindus.
