Nitish Kumar reorganizes the JD(U) office-bearer team in anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections

In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) president Nitish Kumar announced a significant restructuring within the party's organizational framework on Saturday, unveiling a 22-member new team.

In this revamped team, the seasoned JDU leader and prominent media face of the party, KC Tyagi, assumed the roles of national spokesperson and political advisor, while Lok Sabha MP Alok Kumar Suman took on the responsibility of treasurer.

Furthermore, Rajya Sabha MP Bashistha Narain Singh was appointed as the vice president of JDU, succeeding Mangani Lal Mandal.

Among the notable appointments in Nitish Kumar's new team were Mangani Lal Mandal, Ramnath Thakur, Sanjay Jha, Ali Ashraf Fatmi, Kahkasha Parveen, and Afaque Alam, all designated as the national general secretary of the party.

Rajib Ranjan, a former MLA from the Chief Minister's home district of Nalanda, who rejoined JDU after leaving the BJP last year, was also named as a national spokesperson for the party.

The number of national general secretaries has been streamlined to 11, a reduction from the previous count of 22 in the list issued in March of the preceding year when Lalan Singh led the party.

It is noteworthy that former party chief Lalan Singh did not secure a position in Nitish Kumar's newly formed team.

According to party sources, five Lok Sabha MPs were relieved of their organizational roles, enabling them to concentrate on the imminent general elections.

Nitish Kumar assumed the role of party president just last month.
