Protesters demonstrate as an Old Goa resort is approved in spite of 17,000 objections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an address in Maharashtra's Solapur today, once again urged the citizens of the country to illuminate their homes with Ram Jyoti on January 22. He emphasized that this act would serve as an inspiration for individuals to dispel the darkness of poverty.

Speaking at an event related to houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) scheme in Maharashtra, intended for underprivileged beneficiaries such as handloom workers, vendors, power loom workers, and rag pickers, PM Modi underscored the challenges faced by the poor under previous administrations. He reiterated his government's dedication to the welfare of the underprivileged since 2014.

While addressing the audience in Solapur, PM Modi reflected on the historical slogans of 'Garibi Hatao' (Remove Poverty) and noted that, despite these slogans, poverty persisted. He highlighted the initiatives undertaken by his government in the last decade to address and alleviate poverty.

Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi stressed the commitment to poverty alleviation and emphasized the implementation of schemes designed for this purpose. He encouraged the lighting of Ram Jyoti on January 22 as a symbolic act of inspiration to eliminate poverty from individuals' lives.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister had previously appealed to the public not to travel to Ayodhya for the Prana Pratishtha ceremony on January 22. Instead, he suggested lighting Ram Jyoti at home and celebrating Diwali to mark the occasion.
