Rahul Gandhi following the Assam clash: Himanta Sarma is the most corrupt, and Amit Shah is in charge of him

On Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took the opportunity to label Himanta Biswa Sarma as the most corrupt Chief Minister in the country. This assertion by Gandhi followed closely on the heels of an FIR being filed against him and fellow Congress leaders in Guwahati, stemming from a clash with the police.

Addressing the gathering during his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Assam's Barpeta, Gandhi stated, "He is the most corrupt Chief Minister in the country. Whatever is told to you by the media is exactly what the Assam CM has conveyed to them." He further added, "The control of Assam's Chief Minister is in the hands of Amit Shah. If he (Himanta Biswa Sarma) dares to say anything against Amit Shah, he will be thrown out of the party."

The 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' resumed its journey in Barpeta on the 11th day, having commenced from Thoubal, Manipur on January 14.

The FIR against Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders was registered on Tuesday after a clash occurred between Congress workers and police personnel. The clash ensued due to the denial of permission for the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' to enter Guwahati through its main routes.

Providing context to the FIR, the Assam Chief Minister highlighted that the case was filed against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and other party workers. He specified that the FIR was lodged by the police, citing "wanton acts of violence, provocation, damage to public property, and assault on police personnel by Congress members."
