NCP MLA Rohit Pawar, the grandnephew of Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), presented himself for questioning before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its Mumbai office in connection with the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) case.
Supriya Sule, the NCP's working president, accompanied Rohit Pawar to the ED office and bid him farewell. Before his ED interrogation, Rohit Pawar, along with Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule, visited the NCP office.
Expressing his readiness to cooperate with the ED's investigation, Rohit Pawar declared his intention to provide all requested files and documents. He emphasized his lack of fear and suggested that if the ED's summons were an attempt to exert pressure, it was directed at the wrong person.
Meanwhile, Supriya Sule refrained from commenting on Rohit Pawar's ED questioning but underscored the need for a transparent and fair investigation. She expressed confidence in the ED and pledged full cooperation, emphasizing that they had nothing to hide.
Amidst the developments, NCP supporters staged a protest against the ED's summons to Rohit Pawar in the MSCB case.
Earlier, Rohit Pawar, summoned to appear on January 24, communicated through an email, expressing his willingness to cooperate and proposing alternative dates due to the Maratha Morcha protests.
The ED's probe into the MSCB case revolves around allegations that Pawar's company, Baramati Agro, misappropriated borrowed funds for the purchase of Kannad SSK, a firm declared a sick unit by MSCB. The auction process, in which Baramati Agro participated, is under scrutiny for alleged rigging, diverting funds, and inflating the price paid for Kannad SSK.
