Several weeks after the Poonch terror assault, Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu on January 9

Scheduled for January 9, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is anticipated to undertake a visit to Jammu to meticulously assess the security situation prevailing in the region, as divulged by sources to India Today TV. This prospective visit by Amit Shah comes in the aftermath of a terror incident that unfolded in Jammu's Poonch, where heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles, resulting in the tragic loss of four soldiers' lives and causing injuries to two others.

It is noteworthy that this visit follows the preceding visits by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Pande, both of whom journeyed to Jammu to inspect the aftermath of the Poonch attack, showcasing the government's serious concern and commitment to addressing the security challenges in the area.

During his impending visit, Amit Shah is slated to tour the forward areas, gauging the ongoing anti-terror operations and acquiring a firsthand understanding of the ground realities. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the Home Minister will preside over a security review meeting in Jammu, a platform where critical discussions regarding the prevailing security scenario and potential strategic measures will likely take place.

In addition to his security-focused engagements, Amit Shah is also expected to convene a meeting with prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the multifaceted nature of his visit.

The heightened attention on Jammu and Kashmir's security is evident in the recent activities of the Union Home Minister, as highlighted by his participation in a security review meeting held on January 2, specifically dedicated to discussing and strategizing ways to enhance coordination among the police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for bolstering overall security measures in the region. This comprehensive approach underscores the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of the area, especially in the aftermath of recent security challenges.
