"Systematic removal of the Babri Masjid": Owaisi on the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha

Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), reiterated his perspective on the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha, asserting that the Babri Masjid was systematically taken away from Muslims. Speaking to reporters in Karnataka's Kalaburagi, Owaisi expressed that had the masjid not been demolished in 1992, the current situation for Muslims might have been different.

Owaisi highlighted the historical context, stating, "Muslims offered namaz in Babri Masjid for 500 years. When Congress' GB Pant was the CM of Uttar Pradesh, idols were placed inside the masjid. Nair was the collector of Ayodhya at that time. He shut the masjid and started worshipping over there. Ram Mandir did not exist when VHP was formed."

In addition, Owaisi claimed that Mahatma Gandhi never mentioned anything about the Ram Mandir and contended that the Babri Masjid had been taken away from Indian Muslims in a systematic manner. He emphasized that the consequences faced by Muslims today could have been avoided if the masjid had not been demolished in 1992.

Owaisi also took a swipe at opposition parties, particularly targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its convenor Arvind Kejriwal for their stance on the Ram Mandir consecration. He alleged that these leaders are more focused on pleasing the majority community and fail to address the concerns of minorities.

"Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is also in the INDIA alliance, says that we will organize 'Sunderkand Paath' and 'Hanuman Chalisa' every Tuesday. Nobody speaks anything about this because they are all busy targeting the votes of the majority community," he remarked.

Last week, Owaisi had referred to AAP as "RSS ka chota recharge" and questioned its decision to hold Sundarkand Paath ahead of the Ram Temple consecration on January 22, stating that it was a move to appease the majority community.
