Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Saturday that the state would soon initiate a caste census, fulfilling the Congress party's pre-election pledge to the state's populace.
An official statement from the Telangana government confirmed that Revanth Reddy had instructed the relevant officials to take the necessary steps to commence the caste census.
During a review session at the Secretariat, Reddy evaluated the functioning of the minority, backward class, and tribal departments. Additionally, he directed officials to propose plans for constructing permanent Gurukul school buildings instead of relying on rented facilities.
Furthermore, Reddy emphasized the consolidation of SC, ST, and BC Gurukul institutions within an Integrated Educational Hub, streamlining administration and resources.
In addressing pending financial matters, Reddy underscored the importance of promptly settling diet charges, cosmetic expenses, and cooking bills for Gurukul schools, ensuring smooth transactions via the green channel.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to draft budget estimates for implementing the 'Kalyanamastu' scheme, which provides one tola of gold and Rs 1 lakh financial assistance to girls from BPL families upon marriage.
Additionally, Reddy urged officials to assess the financial requirements for all government welfare hostels and explore the establishment of a coaching center tailored for backward classes in a specific Parliamentary constituency.
Moreover, Reddy proposed the establishment of an 'integrated education hub' to accommodate SC, ST, and BC welfare residential educational institutions collectively, aiming to enhance efficiency in management and oversight, according to the statement.
