During Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on Wednesday, an incident occurred wherein the windscreen of the car he was traveling in was shattered. Contrary to initial reports of an attack, the Congress clarified that the damage resulted from the sudden application of brakes, dispelling notions of deliberate aggression towards Gandhi.
Addressing the situation, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refuted claims that the incident took place within Bengal's borders, asserting that it occurred in Bihar's Katihar. Expressing disapproval, Banerjee distanced her state from the incident, implying that the broken glass was brought into Bengal post-incident. She further insinuated the potential involvement of the BJP and Nitish Kumar's JD(U), citing their recent political alliance as a plausible motive for such actions.
In response to the failed seat-sharing negotiations with the Congress, Banerjee disclosed her party's willingness to offer two seats, lamenting the Congress's insistence on a greater share. Moreover, she accused the CPI(M) of sabotaging the once-amicable relationship between her Trinamool Congress and the Congress party, attributing the rift to the actions of the former.
