In a significant development related to the Divya Pahuja murder case, Baljraj Gill, one of the accused arrested on Thursday, made a confession on Friday, admitting to the act of disposing of the ex-model's body. According to Gill's statement to the police, he threw Divya Pahuja's lifeless body into a canal located in Patiala, Punjab, on January 3. This grim revelation comes a day after Pahuja's alleged murder at a Gurugram hotel on January 2, implicating the main accused, Abhijeet Singh.
Baljraj Gill, apprehended in connection with the case, disclosed that he was entrusted with the task of getting rid of the deceased model's body by Abhijeet Singh, the principal accused of the heinous crime. Abhijeet Singh, owner of City Point Hotel where the murder occurred, reportedly sought assistance from Balraj Gill, who claimed responsibility for disposing of Pahuja's remains in the Patiala canal.
The tragic incident unfolded when Divya Pahuja, a 27-year-old former model, was purportedly murdered by Abhijeet Singh in Gurugram. Following the crime, Singh allegedly contacted Balraj Gill, a resident of Delhi, to aid in the disposal of Pahuja's body. Another accomplice, Ravi Banga, involved in transporting the body in a BMW car, is currently evading authorities.
As per reports from the crime branch, the two individuals were promised a sum of Rs 10 lakh for their role in disposing of the victim's body. The police have taken five individuals into custody thus far in connection with the murder: Abhijeet Singh, Hemraj, Om Prakash, Megha Phogat (alleged to have assisted in concealing the murder weapon and Pahuja's belongings), and Balraj Gill (accused of disposing of the body). However, Ravi Banga remains at large.
The motive behind the murder, as claimed by Abhijeet Singh, revolves around alleged blackmail by Divya Pahuja, who purportedly possessed explicit videos of Singh. The police have acknowledged Singh's assertion but emphasized that further investigations are underway to verify these claims.
The search for Divya Pahuja's remains has intensified, with the crime branch conducting thorough operations along the canal in Patiala to locate and recover crucial evidence of this tragic incident.
