Two drivers collide on the Chandigarh-Manali route, falling into the River Beas

 


Efforts are currently underway by rescue teams to locate and retrieve the two individuals who found themselves immersed in the waters of the River Beas following a road rage altercation on the Chandigarh-Manali national highway late on Monday night. The local police have reported that the individuals, identified as drivers, are the subjects of an ongoing search and rescue mission.

As per available information, the confrontation unfolded when one of the drivers, operating a minibus transporting tourists, attempted to overtake the other driver who was navigating an SUV en route to Jalandhar in Punjab. The altercation escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in both individuals plummeting into the river from an elevated location.

Prompt action was taken by eyewitnesses who promptly alerted law enforcement. The police, in turn, reached out to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), initiating a coordinated operation to pinpoint the whereabouts of the submerged drivers.

The incident, unfortunately, led to traffic congestion in the vicinity; however, the authorities swiftly managed to bring the situation under control. The ongoing search and rescue efforts underscore the gravity of the situation, as emergency response teams strive to ensure the safety and recovery of the two individuals involved in this unfortunate incident.
