Two law students from Tamil Nadu have been suspended for forcing a classmate to drink juice laced with pee

Two final-year students at the Tamil Nadu National Law University in Tiruchirappalli have been handed a one-year suspension following allegations that they made their classmate consume juice mixed with urine. The reported incident occurred on January 6 when the aggrieved student unknowingly drank the concoction provided by his classmates. It was only the next day that he discovered the truth as his classmates began mocking him in class. A complaint was subsequently lodged with Vice-Chancellor V Nagaraj.

In response, the university formed a committee comprised of three professors, which presented its findings on January 18. Based on the report, the two students involved were suspended for a year, rendering them ineligible to take the 10th-semester exams in the ongoing year. Additionally, a formal complaint has been filed with the Ramji Nagar Police to initiate legal proceedings.

University Registrar Balakrishnan stated that two resolutions were passed, leading to a police complaint on January 18 and the students' expulsion until January 2025. A final decision on the matter is expected to be made during the Executive Committee meeting on January 30. Ongoing investigations continue into the incident.
