In an alarming incident at a government hospital in Maharashtra, a female doctor faced a brutal assault when a dispute escalated into a violent brawl on the premises on Thursday. The shocking incident, captured by the hospital's CCTV camera, has garnered attention on social media.
The video footage reveals a group of men entering Ghati Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and attacking a patient. Amid the chaos, Dr Preeti Bhoge, a resident doctor, was struck on the head with an iron rod, causing her injuries. Despite the efforts of security personnel to intervene, the patient suffered a severe beating.
Law enforcement has taken action by registering a case under section 353 of the IPC (assault upon a public servant) against seven individuals involved in the incident. Of the accused, five have been detained, and ongoing investigations aim to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the assault.
Akhil Sheikh Shamsher, the victim of the assault, disclosed that the attack originated from a parking dispute with a neighboring shopkeeper, eventually escalating into a violent confrontation within the hospital premises.
Following this distressing incident, NCP MP Supriya Sule voiced her concern, calling for stringent action against the perpetrators. In a post on social media, she emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "There was an incident where a gang broke into Ghati Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and beat up the resident doctor with a rod. This is a very serious matter. If even the doctors working in the hospital are not safe, how can patient care remain viable?"
Sule urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation and take decisive action against those responsible for the violence.
