With Milind Deora's departure, a look at the leaders of "Team Rahul" who have resigned from Congress

Let us delve into the electoral trajectories of those individuals associated with 'Team Rahul' who have chosen to sever ties with the Congress.

Upon every departure of a former 'Team Rahul' leader from the Congress, a visual narrative of the team emerges on various social media platforms. The imagery includes Milind Deora alongside Jyotiraditya Scindia, RPN Singh, Jitin Prasada, and Sachin Pilot, with the notable observation that all members, except for Sachin Pilot, have parted ways with the party.

Starting with Milind Deora, after his exit from the Congress, the former Union Minister found a new political home within the Shiv Sena, aligning himself with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on January 14. Notably, Deora, who previously secured the prestigious Mumbai South seat in 2009, faced defeats in 2014 and 2019, losing to Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant by a margin exceeding 126,000 votes.

In the case of RPN Singh, a former Union minister associated with 'Team Rahul,' his departure from the Congress in January 2022 led him to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Hailing from the Sainthwar royal family of Kushinagar, Singh faced an initial setback in his political career with a defeat in the 1993 assembly election in Padrauna. Despite contesting thrice for the Lok Sabha from Kushinagar in 2009, 2014, and 2019, he could secure victory only in 2009. Subsequently, Singh experienced defeats in 2014 and a third-place finish in 2019 from the same Lok Sabha seat.

Jitin Prasada, a former Union minister who shifted allegiance to the BJP on June 9, 2021, emphasized in an interview with India Today that his decision was motivated by ideals rather than a pursuit of power or position. Prasada's political journey includes being elected to the Lok Sabha in 2004, assuming the role of Minister of State for Steel in April 2004, and being re-elected in 2009, becoming Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas in May 2009. However, post-2009, Prasada faced setbacks with losses in the Lok Sabha elections of 2014 and 2019, as well as the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, a pivotal figure in 'Team Rahul,' made a significant move by joining the BJP in March 2020. His subsequent election to the Rajya Sabha in June 2020 was followed by taking the oath as Union Minister in the Narendra Modi government in July 2021. Currently holding portfolios for Civil Aviation and Steel, Scindia secured a Lok Sabha seat (bye-election) from Guna in 2022. Notably, during the Dr. Manmohan Singh government, he served in various capacities, including Minister of State in the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Union Minister of State (independent charge) of the Ministry of Power.
