Workers from the Congress and the BJP dispute in Thrissur over tree limb cutting

In the aftermath of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's roadshow and rally in Thrissur, Kerala, tensions flared up between supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress. The discord unfolded at Thekkinkadu Maidan, the venue of the PM's event, a day after the rally. The cause of the clashes was rooted in a disagreement over the pruning of branches from a tree for the Prime Minister's program.

The spark for the altercation occurred when Congress activists initiated a protest against the trimming of branches from a banyan tree near the Prime Minister's stage. This particular tree is believed to bear religious significance and stands in proximity to the Vadakkumnathan Temple.

Simultaneously, the BJP alleged that Congress workers were intending to use cow dung water to defile the venue where the Prime Minister had addressed the gathering the previous day. The exchange of accusations fueled an intense argument between members of the two political factions, eventually escalating into a full-fledged clash.

Law enforcement swiftly intervened, deploying police personnel to the location to mitigate the situation. To restore order, the authorities detained some of the protesters involved in the altercation.

Throughout the skirmish, Congress supporters vocalized slogans asserting, 'Whoever comes, Thrissur will be won by Congress,' a sentiment directed towards the imminent Lok Sabha election.

Prime Minister Modi's address at the women's rally in Thrissur centered on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He urged voters to oppose the coalition of parties forming the INDIA bloc, emphasizing the importance of making informed choices during the electoral process.
