Congress's Gaurav Gogoi says the BJP's "Jai Shri Ram" chants are filled with hate and rage

During the deliberations in the Lok Sabha regarding the construction of the Ram Temple and the consecration of Shri Ram Lala, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi launched a scathing critique against the BJP, contending that the repetitive chants of 'Jai Shri Ram' by its members betray sentiments of anger and animosity. He implored the ruling party to abandon the practice of venerating Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi.

Asserting Lord Ram's universal significance, Gogoi emphasized that the divine presence of Ram transcends boundaries and encompasses all beings at all times. He expounded on the concept of "Ram Rajya," portraying it as an era characterized by universal contentment and the absence of grievances.

Expressing skepticism about the present state of affairs, Gogoi questioned whether the marginalized communities and minorities in the country were truly content. He cited an increase in crimes against Scheduled Castes and the demand for a caste census among the Other Backward Classes as indicators of persisting inequalities.

Gogoi criticized the BJP's purported obliviousness to issues such as inflation, intolerance, and violence against minorities, accusing them of being blinded by arrogance.

Amidst protests from ruling party members, Gogoi urged for the 'Jai Shri Ram' chants to exude love and benevolence rather than hostility. He argued that genuine devotion to Ram cannot coexist with feelings of hatred or violence towards others.

Drawing parallels with the legendary patience of Sita, Gogoi highlighted instances of contemporary helplessness, including the plight of marginalized communities and job-seeking youth. He reiterated Congress's commitment to secularism while advocating for an inclusive approach towards all religions.

Citing the teachings of Guru Nanak, Gogoi advocated for unity among all segments of society, cautioning against the path of arrogance exemplified by figures like Nathuram Godse. He underscored the historical presence of Ram as a symbol of empowerment for the oppressed and backward classes.

In conclusion, Gogoi emphasized the timeless presence of Ram as a guiding force for the nation, asserting that the spirit of Ram resides within the hearts of all Indians, transcending temporal boundaries.
