Police reported that Singer Vijay Lakshmi, also known as Mallika Rajput, was discovered deceased under suspicious circumstances at her residence on Tuesday.
Authorities stated that the body of the 35-year-old vocalist was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room within her house situated in the Sitakund locality under the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station.
Mallika's mother, Sumitra Singh, expressed unawareness about the timing of the incident as the family was asleep during that period.
Shriram Pandey, the in-charge of the Kotwali police station, indicated that prima facie evidence suggests the possibility of suicide. Nevertheless, he noted that the precise cause of death would be determined upon receipt of the postmortem report.
