Senior Samajwadi Party luminary Swami Prasad Maurya tendered his resignation as the party's national general secretary on Tuesday, affirming his commitment to bolstering the SP's influence and prowess even in the absence of an official designation.
Addressing his resignation missive to Party President Akhilesh Yadav, Maurya reiterated his dedication to advancing the party's interests without seeking any specific role or title.
Maurya took to social media to share the contents of his resignation letter, signaling his decision to the public.
As a member of the state legislative council representing the SP, Maurya had transitioned to the Samajwadi Party from the BJP ahead of the 2022 polls. However, his bid for a seat in the assembly from Fazilnagar proved unsuccessful.
Notably, Maurya stirred controversy with his remarks concerning the Ramcharitmanas and the consecration ceremony of the Ayodhya temple.
