Pilots unharmed in an Air Force trainer aircraft crash in West Midnapur, Bengal


An Indian Air Force (IAF) Hawk trainer aircraft crashed during a routine training mission in West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district on Tuesday, as confirmed by a defense official. The incident, which occurred around 3 pm, prompted both pilots aboard the aircraft to safely eject.

The plane went down in a civilian-populated area near the Kalaikunda Air Force Station while it was returning from the training sortie. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or damage to civilian property as a result of the accident. Local residents gathered at the crash site to observe the aftermath.

Following the incident, a team comprising officials from the West Bengal Police and the Air Force promptly arrived at the scene to assess and address the situation.

Simultaneously, the Eastern Command of the Indian Air Force has initiated a thorough investigation, constituting a court of inquiry to meticulously examine and ascertain the root cause of the mishap.
