On February 9, the Hyderabad Police apprehended three individuals, among them a Bangladeshi female citizen, as part of an alleged human trafficking syndicate.
Among those detained were two women and the spouse of one of the women. Subsequent interrogation uncovered that one of the women, formerly engaged in the sex trade, played an active role in trafficking activities, orchestrating the movement of the Bangladeshi women across various districts for purposes of prostitution.
Further investigation revealed that the former sex worker established contact with the Bangladeshi individual through a messaging application, enticing her into illicit undertakings in India sans proper documentation. Additionally, the husband of the ex-sex worker was implicated in the trafficking scheme.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under Section 370, 370(A)(2) IPC (on the exploitation of trafficked individuals), the Foreigners Act, and the Passport Act.
Currently, the Bangladeshi national, along with the other woman and her husband, are under judicial custody while law enforcement authorities continue their inquiry into the matter.
