With the backing of 129 MLAs, Nitish Kumar wins the Bihar trust vote, and the opposition leaves

The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar clinched victory in a crucial floor test on Monday, garnering the support of 129 MLAs, including three from the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). This triumph came amidst the backdrop of a walkout by opposition members.

Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar initiated a motion in the state assembly seeking confidence in the newly formed government, which aligns with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This move was made after the House's resolution for the removal of RJD's Awadh Bihari Chaudhary from the Speaker's position.

The entire episode surrounding the floor test showcased significant political maneuvering, with Nitish Kumar accusing his former deputy and the RJD of corrupt practices during their previous tenure. He vowed to launch investigations into these alleged wrongdoings. Additionally, Nitish Kumar reminisced about the governance of Tejashwi Yadav's parents, Lalu Prasad and Rabri Dev, questioning their efficacy and implying corruption during their rule.

Tejashwi Yadav, on the other hand, delivered a spirited speech targeting Nitish Kumar and asserting himself as the figure to challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi's influence in Bihar. Amidst the exchanges, he also raised questions about Nitish Kumar's motives and actions.

Following Tejashwi Yadav's speech, MLAs from the RJD, Congress, and the Left Front staged a walkout from the Assembly.

Before the session began, the 'Mahagathabandhan' encountered a setback with a no-confidence motion against RJD's Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary, resulting in his removal from the position. This development was followed by the defection of three RJD MLAs to the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, further weakening the opposition coalition.

Amidst these political twists, a series of events unfolded, including allegations of kidnapping against RJD MLA Chetan Anand, who later clarified that he visited Tejashwi Yadav's residence voluntarily.

Despite these challenges, legislators from the 'Mahagathbandhan' coalition displayed solidarity, gathering at Tejashwi Yadav's residence in a show of support. The atmosphere was marked by camaraderie, with MLAs engaging in recreational activities.

The recent political upheaval in Bihar stems from Nitish Kumar's decision to break away from the 'Mahagathbandhan' and align with the BJP, citing differences and concerns regarding the coalition's electoral strategies.

Nitish Kumar's return to the NDA fold and subsequent formation of a new government marked a significant shift in Bihar's political landscape, setting the stage for continued developments and transformations.
