On Monday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took a jibe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, humorously positioning himself as the "nephew" poised to thwart Prime Minister Narendra Modi's influence in the state. In a lively address to the state Assembly, the former Deputy Chief Minister also raised doubts about the Prime Minister's ability to ensure Nitish Kumar's loyalty.
"We regard you, Nitish Kumar, as a member of our extended family, as we hail from the Samajwadi lineage... You, who once carried the banner against Modi's ascendancy nationwide, will now witness your 'bhateeja' (nephew) carrying the mantle to thwart the Prime Minister's influence in Bihar," Tejashwi remarked.
Expressing sympathy for JD(U) MLAs, Tejashwi remarked on the challenges they might face in responding to public queries. "How will you explain Nitish Kumar's threefold oath-taking ceremonies? Once critical of the BJP, now extolling their virtues... How will you respond? For us, the RJD, employment opportunities have always been the priority," he added.
Despite the banter, Tejashwi reiterated his respect for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, recalling past instances of support. "When you stepped out of Raj Bhavan after resigning, you lamented, 'I wasn't feeling it; we aren't here for merrymaking.' We stood by you then," he emphasized.
Furthermore, Tejashwi emphasized his resistance against the current Bihar government, extending gratitude to Nitish Kumar for his historic nine oath-taking ceremonies.
Tejashwi's remarks precede Nitish Kumar's trust vote, which resulted in 125 votes in favor of the no-confidence motion and 112 against, indicating the ongoing political dynamics within the state.
