Following government intervention, Google relists a few Indian apps that were removed

The technology behemoth Google has decided to restore several Indian applications that it had previously removed from its Play Store platform, following the intervention of the government aimed at resolving the dispute.

According to statements attributed to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw by news agency PTI, the government expressed strong opposition to Google's actions in delisting certain apps.

"The government views Google's delisting of several apps from the Play Store very seriously. We are firmly against the removal of these apps," he remarked.

After the government's involvement, Google reinstated a selection of prominent apps developed by Info Edge India, including Naukri, 99acres, and Naukri Gulf. Additionally, the matrimony app Shaadi, developed by People Group, reappeared on the Play Store on Saturday afternoon.

Sanjeev Bikchandani, the co-founder of Info Edge, praised the efforts to restore the apps, stating, "Many of the Info Edge apps have been reinstated on the Play Store. This was a commendable effort led by Hitesh and the entire Info Edge team, who worked tirelessly throughout the night. It reflects excellent crisis management."
