Ajit Doval assesses the state of bilateral relations with his Russian counterpart

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev for the second time this month, holding discussions on bilateral cooperation and other significant matters. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the XII International Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters in St Petersburg.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress in bilateral cooperation and discussed various issues of mutual interest. This engagement underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between India and Russia, particularly in the realm of security.

Earlier this month, Doval had met Patrushev during the 19th annual meeting of the secretaries of security councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Astana. During that meeting, Doval expressed India's solidarity with Russia in combating terrorism and emphasized the need for concerted efforts to address this global menace effectively.

In addition to the meeting with Patrushev, Doval also participated in the luncheon meeting of BRICS NSAs, where he emphasized the importance of closer cooperation among BRICS nations in the fight against terrorism. He stressed the need for concrete actions to prevent the planning, funding, and execution of terrorist acts across borders.

Furthermore, Doval had a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from Myanmar, Admiral Moe Aung. They discussed various aspects of the current situation in Myanmar, as well as India-funded infrastructure projects in the country. Additionally, they addressed recent developments along the India-Myanmar border, including security concerns and issues related to refugees and development projects.

These engagements highlight India's commitment to fostering strong partnerships with both Russia and Myanmar, as well as its dedication to addressing regional and global security challenges through collaborative efforts.
