PM Modi, who only offers criticism, is dubbed "a new Putin in making." Pawar Sharad

Sharad Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, likening him to Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressing concerns about the emergence of authoritarianism in India.

Pawar accused PM Modi of instilling fear and following in the footsteps of Putin. He criticized Modi for focusing on criticism rather than highlighting his government's accomplishments over the past decade.

At a campaign rally in Amravati, Pawar emphasized the significant contributions of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to the country and warned against attempts to undermine democratic principles. He cautioned against allowing autocracy to take root in India and reminded the audience of the BJP's past remarks about amending the Constitution.

Pawar praised the efforts of past prime ministers, including Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Narasimha Rao, and Manmohan Singh, in shaping India's future. He contrasted their vision for progress with what he perceived as Modi's tendency to focus on criticism rather than constructive governance.

In the upcoming Lok Sabha election in the Amravati constituency, a notable contest is expected between Navneet Rana of the BJP, who won as an independent candidate in 2019, and Balwant Wankhede of the Congress. This election is poised to be a significant battleground for political parties.
