Income Tax searches target important aides to a Karnataka Congress MP

Income Tax department officials conducted extensive raids lasting over eight hours on properties associated with key allies of Congress's Bengaluru Rural candidate DK Suresh. The search operations, which commenced at around 6 am, targeted residences belonging to Congress block president Sridhar and former corporator Gangadhar, as well as a relative's home in Konnakunte, situated within the Bengaluru Rural constituency.

The scrutiny extended to the bungalow owned by former corporator Gangadhar, where officials meticulously examined various documents and materials.

Outside Gangadhar's residence, Congress supporters staged protests, alleging that the Income Tax raids were orchestrated as part of a BJP conspiracy. The party strongly condemned the raids on its leader's associates, particularly expressing concern over the timing, just two days before the Lok Sabha polls in south Karnataka.

DK Suresh, the incumbent MP from Bengaluru Rural and brother of Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, has been nominated by the Congress to contest the seat once again. He faces competition from BJP's Dr. CN Manjunath in the upcoming polls scheduled for April 26, during the second phase of voting in the Bengaluru Rural constituency.
