Insulin is administered to Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail when his blood sugar level rises: References

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and a Type-2 Diabetes patient, received his first dose of insulin in Tihar Jail after his blood sugar level spiked to 320, according to sources from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This administration of insulin followed a recent dispute over the prison administration's handling of his health.

Kejriwal, who has been in judicial custody at Tihar Jail since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, received the insulin dosage on Monday evening after a doctor from AIIMS advised the prison administration to do so if absolutely necessary. Before this, he was taking 50 units of insulin daily when he was not in jail.

Earlier, Kejriwal had written to the Superintendent of Tihar Jail, requesting insulin as his glucose meter readings indicated dangerously high levels between 250 and 320. He accused the jail administration of lying about his health due to political pressure.

Furthermore, doctors from AIIMS provided a consultation to Kejriwal on April 20, during which they assured him that there were no serious health concerns. However, the insulin issue was neither raised by Kejriwal nor suggested by the doctors during the consultation.

The insulin row gained attention after the Enforcement Directorate alleged that Kejriwal had deliberately consumed mangoes, aloo puri, and sweets daily to raise his blood sugar level and seek medical bail. Kejriwal's lawyer countered these allegations, stating that he had only eaten mangoes thrice and consumed aloo puri as Navratra prasad.

The AAP has criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing it of deliberately harming Kejriwal and exposing itself through such actions. Kejriwal's health situation in Tihar Jail has become a matter of public debate and scrutiny.
