Permission to meet Arvind Kejriwal in jail was denied by Sunita Kejriwal: References

The Tihar Jail authorities have refused to grant permission to Sunita Kejriwal to meet her husband, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, as scheduled for Monday, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Reportedly, no specific reason was provided by the authorities for denying Sunita Kejriwal's visit to Tihar Jail in New Delhi, where the AAP chief is currently detained following his arrest in the Delhi liquor policy case. However, Delhi Minister Atishi is expected to meet Arvind Kejriwal around 12:30 pm on the same day.

Although both permissions were initially granted simultaneously, the authorization for Sunita Kejriwal's visit was subsequently revoked, AAP sources stated. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann is also slated to meet Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday.

Sources from Tihar Jail explained that Sunita Kejriwal's permission was withheld due to the consecutive meetings scheduled, and she will be permitted to meet her husband after these sessions. According to jail regulations, only two individuals can visit a prisoner at a time, with a maximum of four visits allowed per week.

The Delhi Chief Minister was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case from his official residence on March 21. The central investigative agency has accused him of orchestrating the scheme and engaging in direct involvement in soliciting kickbacks from liquor barons.

Despite these allegations, the AAP has firmly denied the charges and affirmed that there will be no alteration in leadership, reiterating that Kejriwal continues to serve as Chief Minister while in custody.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court is set to hear a plea by the Delhi Chief Minister on Monday, challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. Kejriwal has previously contended that his arrest constitutes an unprecedented assault on democratic principles, including free and fair elections and federalism.
