The father of the accused Karnataka murderer apologizes, saying the victim was 'like my daughter'

Bengal minister Chandrima Bhattacharya has accused Amit Malviya of attempting to denigrate women and besmirch the reputation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Following this allegation, a complaint was lodged in Kolkata against Amit Malviya, the chief of the BJP's IT cell, for purportedly making derogatory remarks against Mamata Banerjee.

On Saturday, Bengal state minister Chandrima Bhattacharya submitted a formal complaint at the Kolkata police station against Amit Malviya, citing his alleged dissemination of "offensive" comments targeting Mamata Banerjee.

In the complaint, Bhattacharya asserted that Malviya's online post falsely accused the chief minister of using inappropriate and vulgar language during her speeches, which she vehemently denied. She contended that such baseless allegations were a deliberate ploy to tarnish Mamata Banerjee's image.

Moreover, the complaint highlighted Malviya's alleged derogatory remarks against women, particularly targeting Mamata Banerjee, who holds the distinction of being the sole incumbent female chief minister across the nation.

Chandrima Bhattacharya further asserted in her complaint that Malviya's actions were calculated attempts to sully the reputation of the Chief Minister and create discord within society, thereby disturbing the peace.

Accompanying her complaint, Bhattacharya provided evidence in the form of screenshots of Malviya's contentious online post.

Subsequently, a case has been registered against Amit Malviya under sections 500, 504, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to defamation, intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace, and uttering words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a woman. This legal action stems from the complaint lodged by Chandrima Bhattacharya.
