The Tamil Nadu Man assaulted by loan representative of financial company after late payment



The incident involving the assault on a 43-year-old man in Tamil Nadu by an alleged staff member of a finance company has sparked outrage and led to protests by the Tamil Nadu Construction Work Owners Association.

The victim, identified as Anandhan, runs a company supplying earthmovers and had availed a loan from Cholamandalam Finance to purchase a vehicle for his business. According to Anandhan, the alleged staff member of the finance company visited his residence to demand payment for an overdue EMI, threatening repercussions if immediate payment was not made.

Anandhan stated that despite agreeing to comply with the demand, the staff member resorted to using profanity and subsequently physically attacked him upon his return home. The assault, captured on CCTV footage, shows the assailant repeatedly striking Anandhan's face and head with a set of keychains, resulting in injuries.

The incident has prompted condemnation from various quarters, with the Tamil Nadu Construction Work Owners Association staging a protest outside the Cholamandalam office. The protesters demanded police intervention and assurances of action against the perpetrator.

The episode highlights the dangers of loan recovery tactics and underscores the need for financial institutions to adhere to ethical practices while dealing with delinquent borrowers. It also emphasizes the importance of swift and effective law enforcement measures to address instances of violence and harassment in debt collection processes.
