When the Vistara aircraft makes an emergency landing in Odisha, a hailstorm damages it

The incident occurred when a Vistara flight departing from Bhubaneswar, destined for New Delhi, encountered a severe hailstorm shortly after take-off. The adverse weather conditions led to damage to the aircraft's windshield, causing it to develop a crack. As a result, the flight crew made the decision to return to the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar for an emergency landing.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, all 169 passengers and crew members onboard the flight remained safe and unharmed. The quick response of the flight crew ensured the safety and well-being of everyone aboard.

The damage to the windshield was likely a result of the impact of hailstones during the storm. While such incidents are rare, they underscore the importance of trained and experienced flight crews who can effectively handle emergencies and prioritize passenger safety above all else.

Authorities at BPIA confirmed that the passengers were evacuated safely upon landing, and appropriate measures were taken to address the damage to the aircraft. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather-related challenges that can affect air travel and the importance of preparedness and swift action in ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.
